Safer, Stronger and More Practical Than Traditional Tie Wire
When setting a Rudy 280 or Rudy 330 beaver trap, a secure anchoring system is essential. For decades, many trappers have used tie wire to connect their trap to a fixed anchor point. While this method is common, it comes with several drawbacks: the wire can come loose if not secured properly, it tangles easily during transport, and it may even break under heavy load due to its small diameter.
To solve these problems, we developed our steel cable extension, specifically designed for the demanding conditions of beaver trapping.
Available in Two Lengths
To suit a variety of trapping situations, our extension is available in:
- 6 ft
- 10 ft
This allows you to choose the length that best fits your trapping location and available anchor points.
1/8" Steel Cable – 7x19 Construction
Our extension is made from 1/8" galvanized steel cable with a 7x19 construction, providing an excellent balance of strength and flexibility.
✅ More flexible
✅ Easy to coil and transport
✅ Built to last
The flexibility of 7x19 cable makes handling easier in the field while still providing the strength required to withstand the harsh conditions encountered during beaver trapping.
Permanent Sliding Loop
At the anchoring end, we designed a permanent sliding loop that allows for quick attachment to a wide variety of anchor points. The loop easily adjusts to different anchor diameters, providing a fast, effective, and secure connection.
✅ Adapts to various anchor sizes
✅ Quick installation without tools
✅ Secure hold in the field
Quick Link & Heavy-Duty Swivel System
In our opinion, every beaver trap extension should include a swivel. When an animal struggles or twists, the swivel helps reduce cable twisting and minimizes stress on connection points.
However, simply having a swivel is not enough. To be truly effective, it must be positioned as close to the trap as possible, where the animal's movements generate the greatest amount of torque.
That is why we designed our extension around a system combining a 1/4" quick link and a heavy-duty professional-grade swivel, commonly used on canine trapping equipment.
The quick link features an 880 lb Working Load Limit (WLL) and provides a major advantage: it can be opened easily, allowing the trapper to attach the swivel directly to the trap spring. This makes it possible to position the swivel exactly where it performs best.
Unlike many competing products that use closed assemblies that do not allow the swivel to be repositioned or replaced easily, our system offers greater flexibility while maximizing trap performance.
✅ 1/4" quick link with 880 lb Working Load Limit
✅ Heavy-duty professional-grade swivel used on canine traps
